Braun Chief XL body mounted on a 2007 Ford E-450 Turbo Diesel Chassis. Due to fact that the Braun discontinued their “Chief” body model the Squad had to go with the Chief XL. The body is mounted on a larger chassis, which makes for a smoother ride for our patients and members. It also makes the overall length, width and height a little bigger. Besides those changes, the vehicle is a very close clone to Ambulance 56. This was done to ease the training of new members; once you know one vehicle, you know them all. The vehicle was also outfitted with all LED emergency lighting. This cuts down on the power demands put on the electrical system, as well as makes it easier to diagnose problems in the event they arise. Also installed in this vehicle is a computer control system. This system controls all the lighting, oxygen distribution, as well as heating and air conditioning. What makes this system very helpful is instead of miles of electrical wires, there is now one wire connecting every electrical device in the vehicle.
This vehicle replaced a 1990 Braun Slope Side, which was traded in when this vehicle was commissioned.
